Sencore SP495

The Sencore SoundPro SP495 is the top of the line color version of the latest model in the SoundPro (formerly sold by Terrasonde as the Audio Toolbox 3c) line with improved analog specifications. Building on the concepts pioneered by the ATB1, SP295 (ATB-Plus), and SP395a (ATB3 monochrome) (see below) it adds a high resolution color backlit display and the ability to use phantom powered measurement mics. It contains two Grace Design audiophile grade microphone preamps with 48 volt phantom power, has a USB port that allows the SP495 to be used as a USB preamp for recording on your computer (recording software not included), SPDIF & Toslink digital outputs, and can record wave files to a SD memory card. The SP495 has all the possible firmware modules already loaded, and unlock codes can be purchased to enable any extra modules you might desire. This SP495 not only comes with the standard SoundCore firmware module, but has all of the modules unlocked. It is supplied with a Type 2 phantom powered test microphone, universal AC power supply, carrying case and CD with software and manual. It has balanced and unbalanced input and output connections on XL, 1/4", and RCA connectors, a speaker, headphone output, RS232 serial, SPDIF, Toslink, and USB audio connections.

SPFW-TDA Time Delay Analysis Firmware (Sencore price $795 - but no charge with these SP495)

The TDA function synchronizes a swept audio generator (20-20,000 Hz) and a tracking audio 1/12 octave band level meter, with a variable filter Q of 6 to 150, graphing the detected level. TDA measurement eliminates room reverberations or echoes for accurate frequency response testing of speakers and microphones, as if they were in an anechoic chamber.

The TDA function is ideal for analyzing a room's sound decay across the frequency band. If multiple TDA frequency sweeps are performed, with each sweep delayed in time from the previous sweep, a sound decay pattern emerges. Room modes appear as ridges that remain at a higher level after other frequencies have decayed. Time-delayed graphs, showing us the room response over time, are called 3D waterfall graphs. The TDA sweeps may be downloaded to Terralink software for 3D analysis. (Terralink Software is included with TDA Firmware purchase on the SP495).

Electronic speech intelligibility tests determine whether rooms and public address systems can adequately transmit speech that can be understood. Tests accurately quantify the performance of the sound system and environment in which they operate. Results clearly identify if improvement is needed or if performance criteria is meet.

Electronic measurement of speech intelligibility has evolved in understanding and testing sophistication. There are currently three common testing methods used to gauge speech intelligibility using electronic analysis. They include:

Sencore SP395a

The Sencore SP395a (Sencore price $2995 plus options) is the Terrasonde Audio Toolbox 3 Monochrome repackaged into the SP495 style case with Sencore's model number on it. It is the first model of the 3rd Generation Audio Toolboxes, and contains two microphone preamps by Grace Designs with switchable 48 volt phantom power. The balanced inputs accept 1/4" and XL connectors. Outputs are provided for 1/4", XL, and RCA connectors. A USB port allows the SP395a to be used as a versitile calibrated USB preamp for measurement and recording with your PC. A RS232 connector is provided for serial control. Measurments are made to a degree of precision not formerly possible, and over a frequency range of 1 Hz to 22 kHz. The Transflective 320 x 240 LCD screen like on a PDA can be easily viewed day or night. This is the platform for the audio and acoustic measurements of tomorrow.

The Sencore SP395a SoundPro Audio Integrator provides comprehensive, easy to use audio/acoustic analysis, for analyzing distributed sound and sound reinforcement systems, plus live sound applications and industrial sound analysis; all in one handheld, battery-operated instrument.

The Audio Integrator makes easy work out of any acoustic or audio system analyzing challenge. Terrasonde Audio Toolbox Plus

The Terrasonde Audio Toolbox Plus is an amazingly versatile audio / acoustic test device. It will not walk the dog, but almost anything else you could ask for it does. The Plus model has a metal case, extendable test microphone, larger display, rechargeable battery, hard shell carrying case, and comes with the Contractor's Firmware loaded and both firmware packages on CD. It has balanced and unbalanced input and output connections on XL, 1/4", and RCA connectors, a speaker, headphone output, and MIDI in and out.

The ATB-1 has all the capabilities listed for the ATB-Plus above, except the case is plastic, the battery pack is external and takes AA cells, the display is slightly smaller, and the microphone is built-in. While the ATB-1 came new with only the Standard Firmware, this refurbished ATB-1 comes with the Contractor's Firmware loaded and both versions of the Firmware on CD. The CD contains the manuals and all accessory programs.

The Terrasonde Digital Audio Toolbox brings the same sort of power to testing digital audio devices and interfaces as the regular Audio Toolbox line brings to audio and acoustic testing. It provides AES3, SPDIF, wordclock and Toslink/ADAT inputs and outputs, video sync input, and headphone and speaker outputs for monitoring digital audio signals. There is a DB-9 connector that works as an RS232 connector for software updates and computer interfacing, as well as an ADAT sync source.

The SP295, ATB-PLUS, and the original ATB-1 are able to run the optional Analysts Firmware. Analysts firmware adds Time Delay Analysis which is based on Dick Heyser's Time Delay Spectrometry (TDS), STIpa the new faster way to measure Speech Transmission Index (STI) without the limitations of the older RASTI technology, and multi-band RT60 measurements to allow measurement of all bands of RT60 in a single measurement, to the Audio Toolbox. It comes with a version of TerraLink for plotting the results including 3D waterfall graphs on your PC. For best results you will want to use a quality external mic like the SoundFirst SF101, or at least the Josephson C550H with this software. $400.00 Email me at Sales@AudioToolbox.US to order.
